Heavenly has a perfect setting; in South Lake Tahoe right on the border of Nevada and California. The views from the top of the resort are some of the most spectacular in the world. The skiing is extensive and the nightlife unbeatable. Since its takeover by Vail, Heavenly has been massively upgraded, and definitely stands among the flashier resorts. There is something for everyone here; besides the ski trails that traverse a colossal area, Heavenly offers opportunities for all kinds of winter recreation alternatives, both indoor and outdoor.
Heavenly has some great expert terrain-Mott Canyon and Killebrew Canyon on the Nevada side; its famous face run, Gunbarrel, on the California side; and loads of tree skiing. It's a fast-paced, pulsating ski resort that teems with activity, both on and off the slopes. Heavenly's extensive ski area is one of North America's largest, covering 1,920 hectares, and features over 90 trails.
